About the Award

The thesis is still the hallmark of entomology graduates. Despite existence of other options for graduation for a B.S. degree like farm practice, teaching, research apprenticeship and others, most alumni opted for thesis and attest that the experience in performing the thesis has been useful in their current jobs. Undeniably, Philippine entomology has been advanced to some extent by student theses and dissertations.

PAE invites all member professors and their thesis advisees to join in this year’s competition for the Best Undergraduate Thesis. A cash prize of ₱15,000.00 will be awarded to the winning student, and a plaque or certificate of merit will be given to the winning student’s adviser. The student will receive additional cash prize of ₱15,000.00 if it passed the Philippine Entomologist peer-review and eventually accepted as a Regular Article. Below is the list of criteria for the BUT award.
