About the Award

Many entomologists are in the academe serving as faculty, researchers, research scientists, extension staff in private and state colleges and universities. Other entomologists are in the non-academe – government service such as DA, DOST, LGUs, private companies and corporations, employed as research managers and scientists in the AgroSciences industry, agricultural production (seeds, plantations, poultry and livestock, public health), and business practice and entrepreneurship (pest control operators, AgroSciences companies, research laboratories, crop production/livestock production companies) and many more.

It is timely and appropriate to separate the Business Practice and Entrepreneurship from the FB Calora Memorial Award and give it a separate award category. This is to give due recognition to Entomologists who went into this more challenging business venture, appreciating them for their role not only as “working entomologists” but also as “employer-entomologists”. They are unique in being able to give jobs to people and to practice corporate social responsibility in the community. 

Criteria

• Life and Full Member in good standing with annual dues paid who have served PAE for at least three (3) years
• Active participation in PAE events (PMCP Conventions, Fellowships, etc), social and outreach programs, or serving in the Executive Board and/or PAE Committees
• Made significant contributions in their professions for the benefit of society, community, or country
• Engaged at least ten (10) years in entrepreneurial endeavors or business practice, either in a leadership role and/or as owner

Note: Previous recipients of awards can be nominated after ten (10) years based on new accomplishments

Who can nominate

Any two (2) with Life or Full Member status in good standing and active in PAE Activities
